Box Score Winston-Salem, NC – Carolina University Women's Volleyball is back in action for consecutive games, as the Bruins host the Panthers of Ferrum College. Following a victory last night against Regent University on Senior Night, the Blue and Gold are looking to build on their momentum and continue their success.
The first set was a back-and-forth battle, but the Bruins ultimately relinquished their lead. The Panthers' offense proved effective, making it challenging for the Blue and Gold to stay in sync. Despite Ferrum College's attempts to establish a sizable advantage, the Bruins maintained their composure and played scrappy defense throughout the set.
The Bruins took a sizable lead in the second set, thanks in part to a series of aggressive serves from Nicole Leazza that propelled them on a scoring run. Capitalizing on the Panthers' attack errors, the Bruins closed out the set with a score of 25-19.
In the third set, Kammi Naude emerged as a formidable presence, making exceptional block touches while also serving as a key offensive outlet. The Bruins secured the third set 25-20 in a thrilling match, with the final point coming from another Panther error. By keeping their errors to a minimum, the Bruins were able to stay in sync and execute a quick-paced offense.
The fourth set was largely one-sided, with the Bruins quickly establishing a significant lead over the Panthers after some early back-and-forth exchanges. Karli Totel and Sarah Elizabeth were on fire offensively, contributing key kills that widened the gap. Hayley Stull capped off the match with a decisive kill, sealing the Panthers' fate with a final score of 25-19.
The Bruins will be back in action on October 29th at home for their Dig Pink game against Spartanburg Methodist University at 6:30 PM.
