Women's Volleyball Beats Regent on Senior Night

Winston-Salem, NC – Carolina University Women's Volleyball hosted Regent University for Senior Night, honoring five seniors in a thrilling matchup against the Royals. The Bruins triumphed over Regent in four sets with scores of 25-13, 26-24, 22-25, and 25-22.

In the first set, the Bruins quickly established a commanding lead, thanks in part to back-to-back service aces from Nicole Leazza. The Royals struggled to respond to the Bruins' aggressive serves, allowing Carolina to take the set comfortably.

The second set saw the Bruins initially maintain their lead, but the Royals made a significant run to close the gap. However, the Bruins demonstrated their resilience, reclaiming the lead with strong offensive contributions. Senior Hayley Stull was a standout, recording four kills in this set and totaling seven for the match. The set concluded with the Royals committing consecutive hitting errors, giving the Bruins a narrow win at 26-24.

The third set was a nail-biter, with both teams trading the lead back and forth. The Bruins' defense was anchored by Rebecca Walker, who recorded 24 digs, and Courtney Smith, who added four. Despite their efforts, the Bruins struggled against the Royals' blocks, and the set ultimately went to Regent, 22-25.

In the fourth set, Senior Kamra King played a crucial role, tallying 22 assists. Her efforts helped the Bruins secure the set and the match with a final score of 25-22. The Bruins fought hard for the win tonight, and their determination was well-deserved. Rebecca walker was able to tally her 1000th career dig in tonight game, an impressive mile stone as an athlete and a Bruin!

The Blue and Gold will be back in action tomorrow October 26th at 1:00 PM as the take on Ferrum College.
