Winston-Salem, NC – The Carolina University Women's Volleyball team faced a tough match against Johnson C. Smith University at home on Tuesday, falling in a nail-biting series with set scores of 23-25, 22-25, and 23-25.
The first set showcased a thrilling back-and-forth battle, with both teams exchanging leads. Despite a valiant effort, the Bruins came up just short, with the Bulls' strong defense proving pivotal in the tightly contested finish.
In the second set, the Bruins struggled initially, falling behind 0-4. However, they regained their momentum, leveling the score at 8-8. Notable offensive contributions from Sarah-Elizabeth Samuels and Sion Murrian kept the match competitive, with Samules leading the team with 6 kills.
The third set saw the Bruins trailing again, but Karli Totel ignited their offense with three consecutive kills, tying the score at 13-13. Unfortunately, the Bruins couldn't hold on, losing the set 23-25 in another close finish.
Women's Volleyball will return to action on October 5th as they travel to Bluefield, Virginia, for a tri-match against Bluefield University and Montreat College.
