Winston Salem, NC- Mens Volleyball home opener: The Bruins Men's Volleyball team (2-3) battles against Truett-McConnell University (1-4) in an exciting 4-set match.
The Carolina University men's Volleyball team played at home tonight for the first time, after their opening weekend in Rochester NY. With the home-court advantage, the Bruins put on a show. After dropping the first set, the blue and gold battled back, ultimately winning the next three straight sets (23-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-19). Led by Coach Drew Alewine in his first year head coaching for the Bruins "The first home game is always a little nerve-wracking. We have a packed house, have been training for 6 months really want to display our hard work" Alewine says "Credit to Truett McConnell as they came out ready to fight. Once we settled down we started to get in our grove."
Once the Bruins hit their stride there was no stopping them, offensively the blue and gold were resilient and unstoppable. Senior setter Tijhmir Glasco ran the offense tonight tallying 41 assists, and led in defense with 9 digs. Freshman Austin Jeter led offensively with 16 kills followed by Bryson Abernathy with 12 and Jacob Brown with 11. To end the 4-set match Austin Jeter served an ace his fourth of the night, and a win for the Bruins.
