Mens Volleyball: NCCAA National Invitational Day 2 Recap

Rochester, NY- Day two recap for the Bruins Men's Volleyball team (1-3) at the NCCAA National Invitational.

In this year's NCCAA National Invitational Austin Jeter was named all-tournament team, Jeter was able to maintain a consistent presence on the court over the course of the tournament. Austin held a dominating presence on the net and was able to lead in kills for the Bruins for the majority of the blue and gold games. A consistent and powerful offense will be a crucial piece to the puzzle in this upcoming season for the Bears.

The Bruins' first match of the day was against Redeemer University (4-13) they battled and lost in three sets, stats to follow. Coach Alewine states "That was a great game. Both teams played really good volleyball, we just couldn't close out. I couldn't be more proud of the guys for just always battling."

The Blue and Golds' second match of the day was against Geneva College. The Bears lost in four but did not fall without a fight, Austin Jeter led offensively in todays match-up with 20 kills. While freshmen Carson Pearce led defensively with 20 digs and two assists. "In opportune errors hurt us, and that's where our inexperience came in. But this was another great test of our grit and ability to respond. This was a really good step forward for us, and I'm excited for what the future holds this season." says Coach Alewine

The Bruins will be back in action on their home court Williams Gymnasium on January 30, at 7:00 PM.
