Bermuda Run, NC - Carolina University Women's Soccer (1-0-1) defeated West Virginia Tech (0-3) 2-0 at home on Thursday, August 31.
Natasha Mariam scored a goal (assisted by Hayden Pacheco) in the eighth minute and the Bruins never trailed in the contest. Morgan Myers gave the Bruins room to breathe when she scored her first goal in blue and gold in the seventy-third minute.
Kloe Totel had another clean game in goal, allowing zero goals and recording four saves. The Bruins' defense was anchored by Annie Norwood, Sarah Walters, and Ashlyn Herzog, all of whom played all ninety minutes in the backfield.
"May not have been the prettiest, but we gutted out a win," said Head Coach Boo Tesh. "We made a couple adjustments late to score the second goal and put the game away. It's a good confidence builder before heading to Indiana to play Grace and Goshen."
The Bruins travel to Indiana this weekend to take on defending NCCAA National Champion Grace College on Saturday and Goshen College on Monday.
