Brevard, NC - Carolina University Softball played a double-header at Brevard College on Saturday, March 18th. CU started off the game with 4 runs and continued to dominate offensively. The Tornadoes struggled to respond, down 2-8 in the fourth inning. The Bruins kept the momentum in the 7th inning with another 4 runs to finish with a score of 14-3.Â
The Bruins lost some steam in the second game of the day. The Tornadoes took the first lead with 4 runs in the bottom of the second inning. The Bruins responded with 2 runs in the 4th inning, but weren't able to score another run to get ahead. Brevard scored 3 more runs and finished 7-2.Â
Game 1: Danielle Brooks pitched a complete game to earn the victory. Brooks struck out 9 batters, allowed 0 walks, and only gave up 2 earned runs. The Bruins showed a great team effort offensively. Kalea Bolch had a great day, hitting 2 of 5 with 4 RBIs, a double, and scored a run. Jessyca Cardona was 3 of 4 with 3 RBIs, a double, a sac fly, and scored 4 runs. Kourtney Cox went 3 of 5 with 2 RBIs, a triple, and scored a run. ZyMaijah Thomas was 3 of 4 with an RBI,a triple, and scored 4 runs. Â
Game 2: Grace Crocker pitched the majority of the game for the Bruins and had 3 strikeouts and gave up 3 earned runs. Crocker was unfortunately tagged with the loss. Kourtney Cox led the Bruins offensively and went 2 of 3 with an RBI and a double. Kalea Bolch was 1 of 3 and scored another run for the Bruins.Â
