Misenheimer, NC - Carolina University Baseball played against Pfeiffer University on March 10th and 11th. The Falcons started off in the lead with 2 runs in the first inning. The Bruins were behind and struggling to score as Pfeiffer pushed ahead to a 6-0 lead in the fifth inning. CU scored two runs in the sixth inning and finished the game at 2-6.Â
The first game on Saturday was a slow start. Neither team scored a run for the first two innings and CU took the lead in the third with 1 run. The Falcons answered in the fifth inning with arun to make the score 1-1. The Bruins' bats woke up in the sixth inning as CU put 9 runs in the frame, including two homeruns. Pfeiffer scored 2 more runs and another 3 in the seventh inning, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Bruins. CU finished the game with a score of 10-6.Â
The Bruins kept the momentum in the second game of the double-header. Pfeiffer started off in the lead with a 2 run homerun and scored another run in the second inning to take it to 3-0. CU answered with 3 runs in the third inning and continued to dominate through the remainder of the game. The Bruins finished with a score of 8-3 for their second win of the day.Â
Game 1: Kobe VanBogart pitched 4 innings and had 2 strikeouts. Nicholas Mackedon led the team offensively and went 2 of 3 with an RBI. John Kehoe also did well and was 1 of 4 with an RBI.Â
Game 2: Nicholas Mackedon earned the win and pitched for 5 innings and struck out 4 batters. Kevin Greenwood was 1 of 4 with an RBI and a double. Grant Harris hit a 3 run homerun and Bryan Deegan was 3 of 4 with a 4 run homerun.Â
Game 3: Kaleb Whitaker earned the win for the Bruins and struckout 8 batters. Abdiel Santana-Carrasquillo was 2 of 4 with an RBI. Bryan Deegan was 2 of 3 with 2 RBIs and a double.
Carolina University will have a three game series at Paine College on March 17th and 18th. CU is 11-10 on their season coming into the games against the NCCAA South Region opponent. Paine is now 8-7 on their season and have recently lost to Toccoa Falls.Â
