Winston-Salem, NC - Carolina University Women's Basketball hosted Clinton College on Saturday, February 4th at 2:00 pm. The Golden Bears and Bruins tied up the game a couple of times to start but Clinton came out ahead in the first quarter at 18-15. CU took the lead more than once in the second quarter but let it slip before halftime when the Golden Bears went on a 19-7 run. The score was 45-33 coming into the third quarter and the Bruins struggled to make a comeback. CU was down 56-63 by the end of the third and inched their way back in the fourth quarter. The Bruins were able to take a small lead a few times, but eventually the Golden Bears closed out the game with a score of 84-81.Â
Kevanika Brown had another great night with 23 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Brown also eclipsed 1000 career points in this game. Ashley Roberts scored 20 points and had 7 rebounds. Denasia Mitchell had 6 rebounds, 7 points, and 7 assists for the team. Shantazia Gordon grabbed 6 rebounds and Lailah Heard grabbed 5 rebounds.
The CU Bruins are now 9-6 on the season and will play their next game at home against Paine College on Thursday, February 9th at 5:00 pm. Paine is 2-14 on their Women's Basketball season and will play against Bob Jones University this week before facing Carolina University.Â
