Winston-Salem, NC - Carolina University Women's Basketball hosted Paine College on Thursday, February 9th for their Senior Night and last home game of the season. The Lions took the first lead with a 7-0 run but the Bruins managed to get it back to just a 1 point lead by the end of the quarter at 11-12. In an eventful second half, the Lions worked their way into a 7 point lead but were answered by the Bruins in a 10-2 run. CU went to halftime with a score of 34-35. After the break, the game was tied up at 40 points and again at 49 points. The Lions completed the third quarter at 51-50. Things were all square at 58-58 but the Bruins got ahead after a 8-2 run. The Lions scored a few more times but CU closed out the game with a final score 69-66.Â
Senior Kevanika Brown had a great night with 24 points, 5 steals, and 4 rebounds. Denasia Mitchell had 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. Ashley Roberts also had 13 points and grabbed 5 rebounds for the team.Â
The Bruins are now 10-6 on the season and will be on the road to play at Bluefield State University on Saturday, February 11th.Â
