Baseball Comes Out Ahead in Weekend Series

Mocksville, NC - Carolina University Baseball hosted Mid-Atlantic Christian University in a weekend series on February 18th and 19th. In the first game on Saturday, MACU started out in the lead 3-0 when the Bruins scored 4 runs in the bottom of the third. The Mustangs answered with 4 runs in the fifth inning but CU hit two homeruns and scored another 6 runs to finish the game 10-7. 

In the second game of the day, CU led 7-2 in the bottom of the third inning but the Mustangs hit 2 homeruns and scored 12 runs to take it to 14-7. Although the Bruins scored 4 more runs, it was not enough to catch up to MACU. Carolina U finished 11-17 and looked to make a comeback on Sunday. 

Carolina U played a consistent game on Sunday and worked their way into a 12-1 lead by the bottom of the fifth inning. The Mustangs answered with 5 runs but the Bruins finished with a score of 13-6. 

Game 1: Deion Tubbs was 2 of 4 with an RBI and a double. Bryan Deegan was 1 of 3 with 2 RBIs and a double. Nicholas Mackedon was 1 of 3 with a 3 run homerun. Andres Hoyos was 1 of 3 with a solo homerun. Frank Burke pitched 3 innings and had 2 strikeouts and only gave up 2 runs. Noah McDaniel pitched 1.1 innings and had 2 strikeouts as well and Chase Locklar finished off the game for the win.

Game 2: Deion Tubbs had another great game and was 3 of 5 with a double. Kevin Greenwood was 2 of 5 with 3 RBIs and a double. Alexial Delgado was 2 of 3 with a double. Bryan Deegan also did well at the plate and was 2 of 5 with 3 RBIs and 2 homeruns. Kaleb Whitaker pitched 3 innings and recorded 2 strikeouts. Victor Conrad pitched 1.1 innings and had 4 strikeouts. 

Game 3: John Kehoe was 1 of 4 with an RBI and a double. Grant Harris was 1 of 4 with 2 RBIs and a double. Kevin Greenwood was 3 of 5 with an RBI. Deion Tubbs was 3 of 5 with 3 RBIs and had 2 homeruns. Bryan Deegan was 2 of 6 with 2 RBIs and a homerun.
