Mocksville, NC - Carolina University hosted University of Virginia Wise on Tuesday, February 21st in a double-header. The Cavaliers took the lead to start the game and stayed ahead, taking a score of 7-1 in the fourth inning. UVA Wise scored one more run in the seventh inning and the Bruins worked on making a comeback. CU did well at the plate in the final inning and scored 4 runs, but came up short 5-8.Â
The Cavaliers opened the second game with 7 runs and the Bruins answered with a 2 run homerun. UVA Wise stayed ahead with another 9 runs by the third inning. Although the Bruins had a great third inning, scoring 7 runs, it wasn't enough to take a lead. Despite strong efforts from CU, the Cavaliers hit three more homeruns and finished the game with a score of 24-10.
Game 1: Andres Hoyos and Deion Tubbs were both 1 of 2, each with an RBI. Kevin Greenwood was 1 of 4 with 3 RBIs and a double. Noah McDaniel pitched 3.1 innings and had 4 strikeouts. Andrew Callaway pitched 2 innings and had 1 strikeout with no runs.Â
Game 2: Bryan Deegan was 1 of 3 with a 2 run homerun. Nicholas Mackedon was 1 of 3 with an RBI and Grant Harris was also 1 of 3 with an RBI. Kaleb Whitaker had a great day pitching 1 inning and had 4 strikeouts with no runs.Â
