Denmark, SC - Carolina University Women's Basketball played at Voorhees University on Saturday, February 18th at 2:00 pm. The teams traded baskets to start the game and were tied at 10-10, but Voorhees cut the lead to finish the first quarter at 14-10. The Tigers maintained their momentum in the second quarter and stretched to an 8 point lead. CU went to halftime down 21-26 but came back fighting to close the gap. While the Bruins were down the entire third quarter, they tied up the score at 35-35 in the last second. In the fourth quarter, the teams tied at 37-37, 42-42, 45-45, and 47-47. Unfortunately, the Tigers cut the lead in the last minute of the game and went on a 8-0 run to close with a score of 55-47.
Kevanika Brown led all scorers with 22 points, and grabbed 2 steals and 2 rebounds. Ashley Roberts had 14 points and had 13 rebounds for the team. Denasia Mitchell scored 8 points and grabbed 8 rebounds and 5 steals.
Women's Basketball was 10-8 on their season and will go on to compete in the NCCAA South Region Championship on Friday, March 3rd in Columbia, SC.
