Charlotte, NC - Carolina University Men's Basketball played against Johnson & Wales University on Monday, February 13th in Charlotte, NC. The Bruins came into the game 11-12 on the season to face the Wildcats who were 10-14. CU defeated JWU at home in January in an intense game by just 4 points. This game started out just as intense as the two teams battled back and forth for the lead. The Wildcats were able to get ahead with a 5 point lead a couple of times in the middle of the first half. As the Bruins were down 30-33, they hit a 12-3 run to take the lead at 42-35. The game was tied up at 49-49 with 2 minutes left in the half and things did not slow down as they each traded baskets to tie again 56-56 at the break. The second half was just as competitive as the score was tied at 58-58 and again at 66-66. CU was able to take a lead and maintain the momentum and stretch it to 8 points a couple of times. Despite JWU's efforts, the Wildcats came up just shy of matching the Bruins' offense. In a familiar end to the game, Carolina University closed out the game at 96-92. Â
Micah Cooper had a fantastic night, leading all scorers with 31 points, 12 rebounds, and recorded 4 assists. Amarie Elijah-Kirby had a season high of 26 points and grabbed 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the team. Cameron Parker and Cameron Buchanan each scored 9 points and had 3 rebounds a piece.Â
