Laurinburg, NC - Carolina University was on the road for a single game against St. Andrews University on Tuesday, February 7th. The Bruins and Knights were scheduled for a 9 inning game on this mid-week matchup. CU was down 3-10 in the bottom of the second inning but continued to work on making a comeback. They had 2 runs in the fourth and again in the sixth. SAU scored 2 runs in the fifth and 1 more in the seventh to take it to 13-7. In the eighth inning, Carolina scored 4 more runs and the Knights had 3. The Knights kept their lead and the Bruins were unable to get ahead in the ninth inning, finishing with a score of 11-16.Â
John Kehoe did well at the plate and was 2-4 and had 4 RBIs. Grant Harris also had a good game and was 1-5 with a 2-run homerun (2). William Darder-Martin was 1-2 with a double, 3 walks and 3 runs scored. Cade Fletcher started the game, pitching 1.1 innings and gave up 6 runs before being relieved. Several pitchers came on in relief, but Frank Burke had the best outing. Burke pitched 3 inning, gave up just 2 runs, and had 1 strikeout.Â
