Men's Basketball Finishes Just Shy

Lynchburg, VA - Carolina University Men's Basketball started off the New Year with a game at Randolph College on January 2nd at 3:00 pm. The two teams traded baskets right out of the gate but Randolph hit a stride with a 12-3 run. The Wildcats stretched their lead to 14 points taking it to 31-17, but the Bruins clawed their way back. Carolina University answered with a 20-4 run to take their first lead of the game at 37-35. Randolph didn't let CU keep their lead for long and finished the first half with a score of 42-37. The Bruins trailed closely behind the Wildcats but struggled to get ahead. As the game looked like it was over, CU narrowed the lead even further. With only a few seconds left in the game, the Bruins were just down by two points at 76-78, thanks to a three pointer by Ethan Bell. After a trip to the free throw line, Randolph finished with a score of 80-76. 

The Bruins displayed great teamwork in this intense game. Micah Cooper led all scorers with 18 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, had 7 steals, and 4 assists. Ethan Bell also had an incredible game, leading the team with 11 rebounds, including 6 offensive, tallied 5 assists, and scored 13 points. Amarie Elijah-Kirby also scored 13 points and had 7 rebounds. Off the bench, Grady Boyce scored 11 points with 3 three pointers and Cameron Parker had 6 points and 6 rebounds for the team.
