Winston-Salem, NC - Carolina University Men's Basketball hosted University of Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, January 7th at 4:00 pm. The Bruins had been undefeated at home this season and started off the game with that momentum. It didn't take long for CU to be in the lead and they were able to hold off UFTL for the remainder of the first half, going to the break with a score of 30-27. In the start of the second half, the Bruins stayed in the lead, but the momentum began to shift as the Eagles continued to score. UFTL pushed their way to a 10 point lead a couple of times, but Carolina U didn't stop competing. Unfortunately, the Eagles were able to hold off the Bruins down the stretch by a final score of 72-64.Â
Micah Cooper once again led all scorers with 29 points, including 21 in the 2nd half, and snagged 5 crucial rebounds. Luka Suster also played a major role, grabbing 8 rebounds for the team, scoring 6 points, and dishing out 5 assists. Cameron Buchanan scored 7 points and Cameron Parker scored 6 points and grabbed 4 rebounds for the team.Â
Carolina University is now 5-9 on the season and will be on the road this Wednesday to play against Morris College in Sumter, SC at 7:30 pm. CU defeated Morris in their first game of the season and they look to claim a much needed road victory.
