Bruins Bounce Back

Winston-Salem, NC - Carolina University Women's Basketball hosted Virginia University of Lynchburg on Tuesday, January 17th at 5:00 pm. The VUL Lady Dragons were 0-11 on the season. The Bruins battled for the lead to start the game. Both teams went back and forth and were often tied in the first two quarters, but CU went to halftime with a score of 25-23. After the break, the Bruins had a 9-1 run and jumped to a 10 point lead. CU was able to stay ahead and gained momentum in the fourth quarter. With an 11-5 run CU was able to keep the lead for good. Carolina University finished with a score of 66-51, defeating the South Region NCCAA opponent.

Ashley Roberts led the team with 19 points and recorded 6 rebounds. Denasia Mitchell grabbed a season high of 13 rebounds for the team and scored 10 points. Kevanika Brown scored 17 points, had 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Genasia Everett grabbed 9 rebounds and Shantazia Gordon had 7 rebounds.
