Winston-Salem, NC - The CU Bruins Men's Basketball team hosted Regent University on Friday, January 13th at 7:00 pm for their first game of the weekend. The Bruins were fired up from their win on the road earlier this week and brought that energy to the home court. The teams were within three points of each other, scoring back and forth for the majority of the first half. The score was tied 7 times before the break and Regent took the lead 46-43. The second half carried a similar pace and the score was tied another few times before CU decided to jump ahead by 8 points at 74-66. The Royals made a bit of a comeback and continued to trade baskets for the lead. The Bruins once again broke the tie and jumped up to a 10 point lead with under a minute left in the game. Carolina U maintained control and finished with a score of 111 to 104, also claiming their highest scoring game of the season.Â
The Bruins really began to show their depth this week. Micah Cooper got his 1000th point of his career at Carolina University and continued to add to that number, scoring an incredible 35 points in the game. Cooper also grabbed 7 rebounds and 7 steals for the team. Cameron Parker had a career night as well with 24 points, going 8-12 from three, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. Ethan Bell also had a season-high in points with 23 points, 8 assists, and 3 rebounds. Vladimir Vibert recorded 6 assists and Cameron Buchanan had 12 points.Â
