Sumter, SC - Carolina University Men's Basketball faced Morris College for the second time this season on their court in Sumter, SC on Wednesday, January 11th. The matchup forced both teams to bring their best and was very competitive. CU started to take a lead but soon fell behind the Hornets. Morris was ahead by 19 points, but the Bruins went to halftime with a score of 35-48. The second half continued to be challenging for CU. Morris stretched their lead to 24 points but the Bruins took back control of the game with a 30-11 run. The two teams saved all the intensity for the last two minutes of the game, tying it up 87-87. Morris kept the lead into the last 3 seconds, as CU shot two free throws, making it 96-97. Morris also went to the free throw line with 1 second left but missed both shots. It looked as if the game was over when Micah Cooper shot at half-court and drew a foul. With no time left on the clock, Cooper made both free throws, claiming the win for Carolina University at 98-97.
Micah Cooper led the Bruins with 23 points, 12 rebounds and had 3 assists. Ethan Bell had 19 points, which was the same high score he had against Morris earlier in the season. Bell grabbed 6 rebounds and had 5 assists. Amarie Elijah-Kirby had 15 points and 5 rebounds. Cameron Buchanan 12 points, 3 of 5 three pointers, and 3 rebounds. Vladimir Vibert had a good game with 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. D'Shun Edwards grabbed 6 rebounds for the team.
