First Half Success Leads Women’s Soccer to Victory

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Carolina University Women's Soccer hosted Bluefield University at Davie County Community Park on Wednesday, September 7th at 4:00. CU was strong out of the gate and took the lead 1-0 in the 6th minute. The Bruins proceeded to score three more times in the first half at 9:04, 26:53, and 35:12. Carolina U dominated offensively, which kept them in the lead throughout the entire match. Bluefield took 3 shots, all on goal, and it wasn't until the 74th minute that the Rams scored. CU recorded 32 shots, 17 on goal, and were able to convert 4 of them. 

 

Sidney Smith scored the first goal of the game and her first two goals of the season at 5:04, assisted by Natasha Mariam, and 26:53. Alessandra Lopez scored a goal at 9:04 with an assist from Aaliyah Rubio. Sheila Ramirez-Aguilar scored her first goal of the season and the final goal for the Bruins, assisted by Angie Hernandez Victorino, in the 36th minute. Alondra Ramon played all 90 minutes as goalie and recorded 2 saves. The Bruins finished the match with a score of 4-1.
