Men's Soccer Remains Undefeated

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Carolina University Men's Soccer hosted Bluefield University at Davie County Community Park on Wednesday, September 7th at 6:00 pm. In an eventful start to the game Carolina's goalie received a red card, allowing the Bluefield Rams to score on a penalty kick. The Bruins came back to score in the 7th minute. They remained aggressive on offense and quickly  scored another goal at 12:07 making the score 2-1. The Rams received a penalty, leading to a score by the Bruins in the 27th minute. The score briefly rested at 3-1 for CU before Bluefield advanced down the field to score again, taking it to 3-2. The second half was heated with several fouls and yellow cards between the two teams, however, it did not result in anything on the scoreboard. Carolina University held on to win by a final score of 3-2.

 

Reynaldo Martinez-Villanueva scored the first goal for the Bruins at 6:12. Matthew McCamley was an essential piece in the match, as he assisted for the first two goals. The second goal was scored by Joe Reynolds at 12:07. Nathan Rue converted a penalty kick at 26:15, which turned out to be the game winning goal.

 

The Bruins are now 4-0 and will take their momentum on the road to face the Warren Wilson College Owls on Friday, September 9th at 7:00 pm in Asheville, NC.
