Asheville, NC - Carolina University was on the road to play against Warren Wilson College on Friday, September 9th at 7:00 pm. CU had a challenging match and an especially difficult first half. In the 24th minute, the Owls scored the first goal of the match. The Bruins fought back to get a goal in the 41st minute, making the score 1-1. The scoreboard did not rest long before Warren Wilson answered with a goal at 44:59, just before halftime. Carolina U trailed at the half for the first time this season, but did not let that stop them. They proceeded to be the only scoring team for the remainder of the match, with goals at 48:00 and 81:00. The Bruins earned the come from behind victory by a final score of 3-2 against the Owls.Â
The first goal of the match was scored by Nathan Rue at 40:00. Karell Buitendijk scored the second goal at 48:00 and Joe Reynolds had the game winning goal at 81:00. Rue and Reynolds lead Carolina University with 3 goals each on the season and Buitendijk has 2.
After this challenging wing, the Bruins' start of 5-0 is the best in Program history. They will return home to play against Guilford College on Wednesday, September 14th at 7:00 pm at Truist Soccer Park. Let's go Bruins!
