Women's Soccer Uses Second Half Surge

MONTGOMERY, WV - The Bruins were on the road against West Virginia University Institute of Technology for a Women's Soccer match on Wednesday, August 31st. In a challenging first half, WVU Tech started off the game with a score at 3:14. CU answered with a score at 10:52 to tie the game at 1-1. The Golden Bears finished the first half scoring two more times to take a 3-1 lead at the break. The Bruins, led by Natasha Mariam, dominated the second half. CU scored immediately off an assist by Mariam. Mariam scored two more goals of her own, including the game winning goal, in the 55th and 63rd minutes. With such a great effort, Carolina University went on to win 4-3. 

Natasha Mariam had a great game leading the Bruins with two goals and one assist. Aaliyah Rubio and Hayden Pacheco each scored their first goal of the season. Additionally, Sidney Smith assisted on one of Mariam's goals.
