WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Bruins Men's Soccer team hosted a match against Brevard College on Saturday, September 3rd. Carolina U overcame a strong defense and were able to make the only two scores of the game. Brevard put up quite a fight and blocked 11 shots from CU, but weren't able to convert any of their 10 shots (6 on goal) into points. The Bruins scored their first point in the 10th minute. Just before the finish of the first half, they scored again in the 44th minute of the match. Despite the lack of change to the scoreboard, the second half was an eventful back-and-forth of the teams looking to score. The Bruins were able to finish the game out at 2-0.  

Nathan Rue was a catalyst for the Bruin offense, as he assisted on both of the goals. Joe Reynolds scored the first goal of the game and his third goal of the season at 9:23. Karell Buitendijk scored the second goal at 43:02. William Cothill played a crucial role in defense and recorded 6 saves.
