The Bruins Split Tri-Match

Misenheimer, NC - Carolina University Women's Volleyball competed in a tri-match hosted by Pfeiffer University on Saturday, September 17th. The Bruins played their first match of the day against the hosting Falcons. CU started out the match winning the first two sets with scores of 25-15 and 25-22. The Falcons answered back and completed the third set with a score of 25-17. Carolina University regrouped and came through in the fourth set to win the match by a final of 3-1. Sophomore Nicole Laezza was a key component, recording a match-high 46 assists and 9 digs. Giulia La Longa had a match-high 23 kills, followed by Chiara Mottola with 15 kills and Sarah Pickett with 9 kills. 

In Carolina U's second match of the day against Ferrum College, they came out of the gate strong. In the first set, CU won 25-12. Ferrum came back in the second set with a score of 25-22. Their momentum rolled into the third set as well with a score of 25-21. Both teams were back and forth for the lead in the fourth set. Ferrum College finished the set with a score of 30-28 and completed the match 3-1. Giulia La Longa had a match-high 26 kills and also recorded 2 aces and 5.0 blocks. Kamra King recorded a match-high 32 assists. Chiara Mottola also had a match-high 24 digs and recorded 13 kills. 

The Bruins are now 8-4 in the season and will be on the road for their next match at North Carolina Wesleyan College on Thursday, September 22nd at 6:00 pm.
