Winston-Salem, NC - Carolina University hosted Guilford College at Truist Soccer Park on Wednesday, September 14th at 7:00 pm. The Bruins dominated offensively and were aggressive out of the gate. CU scored first in the 16th minute and again in the 25th minute, making the score at 2-0 after the first half. Carolina U maintained momentum in the second half and scored again at 52:25. The Bruins offense did not hold back, proceeding to score moments later in the 56th minute, making the score 4-0. The Bruins pushed the lead all the way to 6-0 before Guilford finally answered at 76:35. CU would win by a final score of 6-1.
The Bruins had many new contributors to the scoreboard in this match. Francisco Tapia (4) scored the first goal of the game at 15:29, assisted by Mario Salinas, and again at 55:19, assisted by Nathan Rue. Nathan Rue (4) scored the second goal at 24:02. Mario Salinas (3) scored at 52:25, assisted by Karell Buitendijk. Robin Salge scored his first goal of the season at 63:01, as did Roberto Martinez at 73:56.Â
Carolina University Men's Soccer is ranked #8 in the NCCAA DI. They are now 6-0 on the season, continuing their best start in Program History. They will be on the road for their next match against Johnson and Wales University on Saturday, September 24th at 3:00 pm in Charlotte, NC.Â
