Winston-Salem, NC - Carolina University Men's Basketball hosted Voorhees University on December 2nd at 7:00 pm. The Bruins have faced some challenging teams on the road and were looking to get back on track on their home court. The game was off to an exciting start as both teams played with high energy, but the Bruins were the first to break out with a 15-2 run that made the score 23-10. The Tigers clawed their way back into the game and went to halftime with a lead of 30-29 over CU. Carolina U regrouped and came back in the second half to reclaim their lead with a 12-2 run right away. Voorhees answered and challenged multiple times, but the Bruins hung on. Cameron Buchanan hit a three with 24 seconds remaining that iced the game. Carolina University defended their home court and won by a final score of 70-69.Â
Micah Cooper led the game with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Amarie Elijah-Kirby scored 14 points and had 7 rebounds. D'Shun Edwards had 13 points and 5 rebounds. Ethan Bell was crucial for the Bruins as he recorded 7 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists against 0 turnovers. Cameron Parker and Cameron Buchanan each scored 9 points with three triples a piece.
The CU Bruins will be in Georgia next week to play against Toccoa Falls College on December 5th and Dalton State College on December 6th. Carolina has had some close games against Toccoa Falls in the last couple of years and look forward to the competitive matchup. They have not faced Dalton since 2019.
