Cooper Comes Up Clutch at Toccoa Falls

Toccoa Falls, GA - Carolina University Men's Basketball played at Toccoa Falls College on Monday, December 5th at 6:00 pm. The Screaming Eagles took the lead right away but both teams traded baskets for the first few minutes of the game. The Bruins were able to tie at 15-15 and both teams continued to fight for the lead. After tying again at 23-23 with just over 5 minutes left in the first half, TFC hit a stride, advancing with a 12-2 run on the Bruins. CU went to halftime with a score of 25-35. It was looking even more challenging for the Bruins as the Screaming Eagles stretched their lead to 13 points right after the break. It was clear that Carolina would not settle, and that the comeback was on. The Bruins inched their way back and utilized incredible shooting to take the lead with 7 minutes left in the game. This slipped away from them momentarily as Toccoa advanced with a score of 71-67. With 3 minutes left, CU regained the lead and would hang on to secure an 83-82 victory.

Micah Cooper had a career night as he led all scorers with 36 points and recorded 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The 36 point explosion is a career best for Cooper as a Bruin, and he set several elite marks on the way. He posted a career-high in 3-point field goals made with 10 and is currently tied for most 3FG made in a game this season in the NCCAA. Amarie Elijah-Kirby scored 15 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Ethan Bell had 12 points and 4 rebounds. Luka Suster and Cameron Buchanan were essential to the Bruins defense as Suster had 6 rebounds and Buchanan had 5. 

Carolina University continued their journey on the road in Georgia against Dalton State College on Tuesday, December 6th.
