Women's Soccer Stalls Late at Brevard

BREVARD, NC -- Carolina University Women's Soccer was on the road at Brevard College for a match on Saturday, September 4th. The Bruins were playing their 3rd road game in six days, but looked to be up to the task early. The Tornados did strike first with a goal at the 13:00 minute mark, but the lead didn't last long. Carolina University responded with a goal in the 19th minute and tied the game at 1-1. Brevard College did score late in the half to take a 2-1 lead. The Tornados expanded that lead with a goal in the 59th minute, but CU still felt like they had plenty of time. The Bruins controlled the ball for most of the second half and stayed competitive. However, no opportunities materialized and Carolina University did fall by the final score of 1-3.

The Bruins were aggressive and had 10 shots with 5 being on goal as a team to the Tornados 11, but it just wasn't enough. The bright spot for CU occurred when Hayden Pacheco scored her first goal of the season. Pacheco was assisted by Aaliyah Rubio, which was her first assist of the year as well. Zee Ventura played all 90 minutes in the goal for the Bruins and had 4 saves against 3 goals allowed.

Carolina University is now 0-4 after this tough week on the road, but will look to recover and bounce back strong. The Bruins will host NCCAA opponent, Toccoa Falls College, Wednesday, September 15th with a 5:00PM kick-off at BB&T Soccer Park. Fans of both home and away teams will be allowed entry and the game will have a LiveStream available through cubruins.com.
