Men's Soccer Breaks Through at Brevard

BREVARD, NC -- The CU Men's Soccer Team played at Brevard College on Thursday, September 2nd. The Tornados had control of the first half and took 10 shots compared to the Bruins 2. However, the Carolina University defense held firm and allowed just 1 goal and had 4 saves as they entered halftime. The Bruins took their shot in the second half scoring 2 goals within the first 8 minutes and taking the 2-1 lead. The Bruins would never look back and even iced this game with a final goal in the 90th minute to earn the 3-1 victory.

Three different Bruins scored goals in this game. Nathan Rue was first at 50:46. Francisco Tapia followed that with his goal at 52:20. At the 89:36 mark, Benjamin Fortuin scored and was assisted by Luke Spillane-Davis. Jeremiah Gibbs was in the goal for CU and had 6 saves while allowing just 1 goal. 

Carolina University now moves to 1-1 on the season and will have a good match against Montreat College on Saturday, September 4th. The Cavaliers of the Appalachian Athletic Conference will be traveling to Winston-Salem for what is sure to be a highly competitive game.
