LAURINBURG, NC -- Carolina University Women's Volleyball faced-off with Truett McConnell University in the first match of the day on Saturday, September 25th. The Bruins were participating in a Tri-Match hosted by St. Andrews, and played the Bears prior their meeting with the Knights. The TMU Bears jumped out to an early lead, but CU found their way back into it. The first set ended up being a back and forth affair, but Truett McConnell did secure the 28-26 victory. The Bears carried that momentum through the second set and had a 2-0 lead on the Bruins. However, Carolina University did not fold and responded by a dominant 25-11 third set victory. Unfortunately, TMU closed out the match 3-1 after the fourth set.Â
Carolina University was balanced in nearly every statistical category. The top performers in kills were:
Destinee Hardamon (13),
Chiara Mottola (12), and
Sarah Pickett (9).
Kamra King paced the Bruins with 16 assists, but
Nicole Laezza was right there with 14. Defensively,
Regan Adams, Laezza, and Becky Walker had 14, 10, and 9 digs respectively.Â
The Bruins will immediately play against host school St. Andrews University to complete their participation in the Tri-Match.
