BLUEFIELD, VA -- Carolina University Women's Volleyball traveled to play against Bluefield College on Thursday, September 23rd. The Bruins struggled to get going in the first set falling behind 12-2. However, they responded after a timeout and rattled off 6 straight points. Unfortunately, it was too little too late as they would drop the set 17-25. The momentum for CU carried over to the second set, as they again pieced together a 6-0 run and took the second set by a score of 25-19. The third set was all Bluefield as they took a 2-1 overall advantage. Again, the Bruins responded and raced out to a 12-6 lead. However, Bluefield slowly chipped away and made this a very competitive finish. The Rams were able to make just enough plays to win the fourth set 27-25, and defeat the Bruins by a final match score of 3-1.
Despite the loss, the Bruins are proud of the effort. The Coaching Staff really appreciated the competitive spirit and feel that the team never gave up. Additionally, a few different Bruins had significant individual performances.
