Women's Volleyball Impresses in Season Opener

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA -- Carolina University Women's Volleyball opened up the 2021 season on the road against Regent University. Regent University is also a member of the NCCAA DI South Region so this was an important early season matchup for the CU. The Bruins and Royals went back and forth early, but the Bruins went on a 6-0 run to take the 15-10 edge which allowed them to take the first set. Carolina University then rode that momentum to take the second set by a 25-11 margin. Down 2-0, Regent University really rallied and kept the third set very tight. However, the Bruins did prevail 25-22 in the third to earn a 3-0 sweep to start the season.

The Bruins were led by a strong performance from Kamra King. King led the team in assists with 23 and also led the team with 20 digs. Her 20 digs were a career high. Regan Adams was also huge for the Bruins as she did a little bit of everything. Adams recorded 4 aces, 4 assists, and 12 digs. True Freshman Kylie Kay looked good in her CU debut. Kay had a game-high 8 kills and also tacked on 2 aces. Chiara Mottola, Jill Jones and Kaylee Barriage each recorded 6 kills for the Bruins.

Carolina University sits at 1-0 as they prepare for a Tri-Match on Saturday, September 4th hosted by Pfeiffer University in Misenhiemer, NC. The Bruins are scheduled to take on Pfeiffer at noon and then play Ferrum at 2:00PM.
