Baseball Opens World Series Pool Play

EASLEY, SC -- Carolina University Baseball played Southwestern Christian University in the first game of Pool Play for the NCCAA Baseball World Series on May 21st. The Bruins are seeded #8 and the Eagles are the #1 seed of the 10 team tournament. Carolina University seeks an early upset to jump start their run at the World Series Crown. The Bruins scored 1 run in the second inning and 2 more in the third, but the Eagles were with them every step of the way. The game was tied 3-3 entering the bottom of the fourth when SCU caught fire and scored 6 runs. The Bruins defense recovered, but the offense couldn't catch up as they would fall by the final score of 3-9. 

Jacob Ladley started on the mound for the Bruins and pitched for 3 innings and recored 3 strikeouts. Four more Bruins were deployed on the mound in this game, but none of them pitched more than 1 inning. Logan Conklin led the way on offense going 2-3 with 1 RBI and a stolen base. John Giboyeaux went 1-2 with a double and scored a run. Dawson Davis recorded an RBI on his hit and Bryan Deegan and Drew Martin crossed home plate for the Bruins.

Carolina University is scheduled for two games on Saturday, May 22nd. The Bruins will first play #9 Alice Lloyd College and then #5 Ecclesia College as a part of the Pool Play schedule.
