EASLEY, SC -- Carolina University Softball played the #2 seed, Concordia University Ann Arbor, in their second Pool Play Game of the NCCAA Softball World Series. The Cardinals opened up the game with a solo-homerun, but the Bruins settled in after that. Carolina University tied the game with a solo-homerun of their own in the bottom of the fourth inning. However, the fifth inning got away from the Bruins as they gave up 5 runs. Concordia University would hold to that lead and secure the 7-1 victory.
Lyric Ryan started on the mound for the Bruins and pitched 4 and 2/3 innings. Ryan had 2 strikeouts in the game.
Danielle Brooks and
Missy Smith came on in relief for the Bruins.
Kalea Bolch continued her stellar play in the post-season. Bolch went 1-3 with a homerun (6). Bolch has really shined as a true-freshman and has hit a homerun in 3 of the last 4 post-season games.
Maggie Smith went 1-3 with a double and
Lyric Ryan went 1-2.Â
Carolina University will now cross-bracket with the #1 seed Mid-America Christian University in the Semi-Final round. This is an elimination game, and the winner will play for the Championship.Â
