EASLEY, SC -- Carolina University Bruins Softball played Mid-America Christian University in the Semi-Final Round of the NCCAA Softball World Series. The Evangels are the #1 seed of the tournament and have rolled into the Semi-Finals winning their Pool Play games by a combined score of 15-0. The Bruins hope to play spoiler in this one and advance to the Championship Game. However, this one was not to be as MACU scored 1 in the first inning and exploded for 7 more in the bottom of the second. The Bruins couldn't make up the difference and fell by a final score of 0-8.
Danielle Brooks started on the mound for the Bruins and pitched 3 and 2/3 innings. While 8 runs were scored on Brooks, only 2 of those runs were earned.
Lyric Ryan came on in relief and finished out the game without allowing any more damage. Offense was hard to come by for the Bruins and
Kourtney Cox recorded the only hit of the day and
Timmya Williams drew a walk.Â
Coach Bass was extremely proud of her team after the game. "We fought hard all season for this opportunity and I couldn't be more proud of what these girls accomplished. We were short-handed all year, but each one of these girls gave me their absolute best and got better. This was historic for our program and something we will never forget."
Carolina University Softball finished this season with a lot of "firsts" and "bests". This was the best record in program history, the first Regional Tournament Title, and first NCCAA World Series Appearance. The future looks bright for the Bruins!
