Baseball Steals Series on the Road

ELIZABETH CITY, NC -- The Carolina University Baseball Team played at Mid-Atlantic Christian University for the final game of a 3-game series on Friday, April 9th. The Bruins and Mustangs split the first 2 games of this series, and CU didn't want to leave this one to chance. The Bruins jumped out with 2 runs in the first inning and another run in the third. The Mustangs took 1 run back in the bottom of the third, but Carolina University answered in the top of the fourth. The score was 4-1 going into the fifth when the Bruins blew the game wide open. Carolina University scored 4 runs in the frame capped off by a 2-run homerun that essentially sealed the game. The Bruins would score a security run in the top of the seventh and go on to win 9-2.

Cade Fletcher pitched a complete-game victory in this one. Fletcher had 4 K's and gave up just 1 earned run in 7 innings. This was by far Fletcher's most innings pitched in a game and he excelled with the opportunity on the way to this win. Logan Conklin helped out with the offense and had a monster day. Conklin went 3-4 with 3 RBI's, and scored 3 runs. Much of that can be attributed to his power hitting as Conklin hit a double and his 4th homerun of the season. John Giboyeaux, Dawson Davis, and Brendan Carroll also batted in some runs.

Carolina University is now 11-11 on the season with 5 games remaining - all at home. The Bruins will have a double-header with Columbia International University on Tuesday, April 13th and a 3-game series with Johnson University starting on Friday, April 16th.
