WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Carolina University Baseball hosted a double-header against Johnson University at Truist Stadium on Friday, April 16th. The Royals came out hot and scored 2 runs in the first, but the Bruins immediately answered. Carolina University scored 4 runs in the first inning and never looked back. The Bruins kept racking up runs, including 3 homeruns, and were able to put this one away. The final score was CU 8 and JU 4.Â
Jacob Ladley earned the win for the Bruins going 5 innings with 4 strikeouts. Offensive came easy for CU, but they were led
John Giboyeaux. Giboyeaux went 2-4 with a homerun (4) and 3 RBIs.
Dino Tharp was also efficient going 2-3 with a solo-homerun (2).
Josh Kent was 2-4 with 2 RBIs and a towering homerun (5) to right field. Additional offense came from
Matt Martir-Tullock who went 2-3 with a double and 2 RBIs.
Carolina University is now 12-13 and will look to keep the bats going in the second game of the double-header at Truist Stadium. The Bruins will also host the Royals for a game tomorrow (Saturday, April 17th) at Mando Field.
