MONTREAT, NC -- Bruins Softball was at Montreat College for the second game of a double-header on Monday, April 12th. Carolina University won the first game and took the season series lead. The bats for the Bruins kept rolling as they scored 2 runs in the second, third, and fourth innings. Carolina University found themselves up 9-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth when the Cavaliers came alive. Montreat scored 7 in the frame to tie the game at 9. Head Coach
Amber Bass got the Bruins back on track as they scored the winning 2 runs in the top of the 7th to get the 11-9 victory and sweep the Cavaliers.
Coach Bass had the following comment after the games;Â "I'm really excited that we are peaking and playing our best ball right now. As a coach, you naturally look for things we can improve, but the girls deserve to celebrate a good pair of wins today."
Lyric Ryan started on the mound for the Bruins, but
Danielle Brooks came on in relief and earned the win.
Kalea Bolch was great on offense for the Bruins as she went 2-4 with 2 RBIs and hit her 3rd homerun of the season.
Jade Durr played well again going 2-3 and scored 2 runs.
Missy Smith also had a great performance going 2-4 with 2 doubles.Â
Carolina University now stands at 10-14 and will finish the regular season at home with a double-header against Johnson University on Tuesday, April 20th. The Bruins are 2-0 against the Royals on the season and will look to finish the season strong.Â
