MILLIGAN, TN -- Bruins Softball played a double-header at Milligan University on Wednseday, April 7th. The Buffs earned a 3-0 victory in game 1, but CU hoped to challenge in game 2. Milligan again opened with 2 runs in the first inning. This time Carolina University was able to answer with a run of their own in the top of the second inning. The pitchers dueled into the bottom of the fifth, when the Buffs were able to extend their lead. Milligan University would score 5 runs in the fifth and finish out the game with a 9-1 victory. 

Lyric Ryan was on the mound for the Bruins in this one. She pitched 4 innings and had 1 strikeout and gave up 6 earned runs. Ryan was also able to go 1-3 at the plate. Kalea Bolch scored the Bruins' run and stole a base. Kayli Cook and Missy Smith each went 1-3 in this game.

The Bruins now sit at 8-14 on the season and still have a chance to qualify for the NCCAA Regional Tournament. Carolina University is in control of its own destiny, but must win games down the stretch. Their first test will come in a double-header at Montreat College on Monday, April 12th. The Bruins split a double-header with the Cavaliers to open the season so this should be a good matchup. These games will have live video and live stats available at the links below.
