WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Carolina University hosted Bluefield State College for a baseball double-header on Thursday, February 25th. In the first game, Bluefield saw the ball well and scored 2 in the second inning and 3 more in third. Carolina University tried to answer in the third with a bases loaded double that scored 2. However, the Blues scored 3 more runs in the fourth and exploded for a 7-run fifth. This proved to be too much and Bluefield State College would win the first game 15-2.Â
Jacob Ladley started for the Bruins and earned 3 strikeouts in his 2 innings of work.
D'Artagnan Hawthorne went 1-1 with a double and 2 RBIs.
Bryan Deegan went 1-2 with a double and scored.
Drew Martin was also able to go 2-2 on the day.
The Bruins will look to bounce back in the second game of the day as they try to earn the split against Bluefield State.
