DANVILLE, VA -- Carolina University Softball was on the road at Averett University for a double-header on Monday, March 15th. The Bruins got the offense going early and loaded the bases with no outs to start the first inning. Carolina University was able to score 1 run, but left 2 stranded on base. The Cougars countered with a run of their own, and it was all tied 1-1 entering the second inning. Carolina University didn't have as much luck at the plate moving forward and fell behind 5-1 entering the fourth inning. The Cougars put the game away in the bottom of the fourth and went on to earn the 11-1 victory.
Lyric Ryan started on the mound for the Bruins and pitched 3 and 1/3 innings. Ryan did go 1-3 at the plate and scored the Bruins' only run of the day on a
Missy Smith RBI.
Kalea Bolch saw the ball well and went 2-2 with a stolen base.
The Bruins will look to bounce back in the second game of the day at Cougar Field.
