Baseball Comes Up Short at St. Andrews

LAURINBURG, NC -- Carolina University Baseball traveled to play against the St. Andrews University Knights. The Bruins and Knights have become very familiar with each other this season as this is the fifth meeting between the teams already. The Knights hold the 3-1 series advantage entering the matchup on Wednesday, March 17th. The Bruins got on the board quickly and took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The Knights came roaring back and took a 4-1 lead after the fourth inning. St. Andrews then blew the game wide open with a 5-run sixth inning that gave them a 9-1 advantage. The Bruins tried to rally and got within striking distance as they entered the bottom of the eighth inning down 5-10. However, the Knights were able to close the door and went on to win 14-5.

Cade Fletcher started on the mound for the Bruins and gave up just 1 hit against 3 strikeouts in his 3 innings pitched. Matt Martir-Tullock led the way on offense going 2-4 with 2 RBIs. Grant Harris had a nice day as well going 2-3, earned 2 BBs and 1 RBI.
