WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Carolina University Women's Basketball hosted Columbia International University for the NCCAA DI South Region Championship Game on Thursday, March 11th. The Lady Bruins jumped out to an early lead and played well in the first quarter. However, the Rams countered and closed the quarter with a 21-14 advantage. Columbia International University continued the solid play into the second quarter and extended their lead to 45-28 at the half. Carolina University tried to battle back, but the Rams were just too much in this one. CIU would go on to win the game 96-60.

Jada Sleet led the Bruins with 16 points and 4 steals. Malayah Montgomery also contributed 14 points. Ni'Jaa Wells was excellent inside for the Lady Bruins scoring 7 points and grabbing 9 rebounds. 

Carolina University wasn't able to cut down the nets, but their excellent season did earn them a birth to the NCCAA DI National Tournament in Indiana next week. The Bruins will be the 8th seed and play the #1 seed Southwester Christian University on Wednesday, March 17th.
