WINONA LAKE, IN -- Carolina University Women's Basketball played in the opening round of the NCCAA DI hosted by Grace College. The Bruins matched up with the #1 seed Southwestern Christian University Eagles. The Eagles' offense was scorching hot to start the game and scored 31 points in the opening quarter. The Bruins played hard, but just couldn't quite keep up in this one. Southwestern Christian University would go on to win 104-55.
Despite the loss, the Bruins had some strong individual performances. Freshman Forward
Ni'Jaa Wells had a tremendous National Tournament debut. Wells went 7-11 from the field, scored 15 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.
Jada Sleet scored 13 points and had 6 steals.
Carolina University will play Ecclesia College in their next game of the tournament as they try to play through the consolation bracket.Â
