WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Carolina University Softball hosted West Virginia University Tech for a double-header on Saturday, March 13th.
Lyric Ryan took the mound in the first game for the Bruins and looked sharp early. Ryan was dealing and her defense was backing her up. CU and WVUT were locked into a pitcher's duel with no score after the top of the sixth. In the bottom half of the inning the Bruins were able to manufacture a run and take a 1-0 lead into the seventh and final inning. The Golden Bears were able to finally get base runners and capitalize in that inning. West Virginia Tech would go on to score 7 and stun the Bruins with a 7-2 victory.
Lyric Ryan pitched 6 and 1/3 innings for the Bruins and struck out 4 batters. Ryan also went 1-3 at the plate and scored a run.
Kayli Cook scored the other run for CU and went 1-4.Â
This loss ends the Bruins' 3 game win streak. Carolina University will look to bounce back in the second game of the afternoon.
