CU Baseball Earns Weekend Sweep

GREENVILLE, SC -- Carolina University Baseball played at Bob Jones University for the third and final game of their weekend series on Saturday, March 13th. CU had won the first 2 games fueled largely by their offense. In this game, pitching would become the story line. Charlee Edwards took the mound for CU and put on a pitching clinic. Edwards was untouchable and completely shutout BJU. Carolina University's offense came right alongside him and allowed CU to cruise to an 11-0 victory that was never in doubt.

Charlee Edwards pitched a near perfect, complete game for CU. Edwards struck out a school record 15 batters, relinquished 4 walks, and allowed just 2 hits. Offensively, CU was led by Dawson Davis who went 2-3 with a double and 1 RBI. Bryan Deegan also had a strong performance at the plate going 1-1, drawing 3 walks and scoring 3 runs. Grant Harris was able to make the most of his plate appearances going 1-3 with 3 RBI's and scoring 3 runs.

With the weekend sweep, Carolina University moves to 6-8 on the season and will confidently play St. Andrews University on Wednesday, March 17th. CU is 1-3 against the Knights this season, but will look to win the meeting of these two schools. After that, Carolina University will play a 3 game series in Petersburg, VA against Virginia State University. There will be a game on Friday, March 19th and a double-header on Saturday, March 20th.
