Softball Falls in Second Game of the Day

WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Bruins Softball played North Carolina Wesleyan for the second game of a double-header on Thursday, March 4th. North Carolina Wesleyan kept the offense going in this game. They opened up with a 4 run first inning and added another 4 runs in the second. Carolina University was able to respond with 1 run in the first and exploded for 6 runs in the second. The second inning outburst was capped off by a Missy Smith 3-run homer. Unfortunately, the Bruins couldn't keep the rally going. The Battling Bishops found ways to score in the third and fourth innings and went on to win 16-7.

Lyric Ryan started for the Bruins and was relieved by Danielle Brooks. Ryan also chipped in offensively going 2-3 at the plate earning 1 RBI and scoring twice. Missy Smith went 2-3 with a double and her first homerun of the year. Smith earned 3 RBIs on the day. Maggie Smith also went 1-3 with a double that led to her 2 RBIs.

Carolina University moves to 2-6 after today and will look to bounce back Saturday. The Bruins will travel to Brevard, NC to play a double-header at Brevard College.
