LAURINBURG, NC -- Carolina University Baseball traveled to play St. Andrews University on Tuesday, March 9th. This was the fourth game between the Bruins and the Knights this season. CU won the first meeting, but the Knights held the 2-1 edge on the season series going into today's game. St. Andrews got out to a quick start and held a 6-0 lead after the second inning. The Bruins responded with 4 runs in the third and 5 runs in the fourth. However, the Knights kept pace and tied the game at 9-9 going into the fifth. Carolina University couldn't quite keep up as St. Andrews continued to score. The Knights would go on to win the high scoring affair 17-10.
The Bruins were led by
Josh Kent at the plate. Kent went 2-3 with 2 RBI's, a double, and a homerun (2). Kent has been on fire for the Bruins batting .700 with 3 doubles and 2 homeruns over the last 3 games.
John Giboyeaux went 2-4 with 1 RBI and
Bryan Deegan went 1-5 with a double.
Drew Martin and
Logan Conklin each chipped in with 2 RBIs as well.Â
The Bruins moved to 3-8 on the season and will look to get back on track against NCCAA rival, Bob Jones University. Carolina University will play a 3 game series in Greenville, NC next week. There will be a Friday night game on March 12th followed by a double-header on the afternoon of Saturday, March 13th.Â
